Blacksmithing In The Old Forge

To the rear of Stanford Hall lies the Ancient Forge – during our 2023 event, for the first time in a great number of generations, we saw The Bushcraft Show bring life back to this stunning piece of history.

Equipped with hammers, anvils, tongs & chisels, under the expert guidance of Connor and his team, Connor will furnish you with a steel blank from which you have the option of forging the NEW addition a Mezzaluna or, the ever popular Viking Neck Knife or, for when you are at camp, a seriously useful toasting fork.

 

You can choose to craft one of the following items:

  • A Mezzaluna.
  • A viking neck knife.
  • A toasting fork.

 

You are strongly advised to book your session as soon as possible – they always sell out!

Description

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the class start time.

  • Duration average: 90min
  • Location: The Old Forge, Rose Garden, rear of Stanford Hall.
  • Skill Level: Novice to Intermediate
  • Minimum age is 12 years old.
  • Children aged 12 to 16yrs must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
  • Whereas Fido is most welcome to join you at The Bushcraft Show, no dogs/pets are allowed in the forge area please.
  • You must purchase a Bushcraft Show entry ticket before booking classes/workshops.
